Keeping up with the Conservatives
/In an era of spin and libel, where outrageous accusations are regularly flung at the courageous Conservative Party, there are only a few trusted media outlets to which the true Tory can turn. Here are the five most patently punctilious publications from which one can discover the inner goings-on of the party.
1. Conservative Home
As the name might imply to the astute reader, this online publication is the central source for all the latest of the party’s storied (and sordid) developments. ToryDiary, a treatise yet more farcical and entertaining than Samuel Pepys’, or even Bridget Jones’, is the go-to page for official updates on Conservative policies, election campaign news, and pure political vitriol. Those keen to stalk and slay Corbyn may find LeftWatch of interest, just as the budding cartoonist will enjoy the unique and uncompromising portraits the Conservatives have decided to commission for themselves. Truly, fun for all the family.
2. The Times
Ah, that bastion of English reporting. Where would the bona fide Brit be without his daily dose of Murdoch-approved journalism? The Times’ venerable history sets it apart from all of its competitors - as the paper of record, you can find reports on the Cabinet’s latest controversies alongside Court circulars on where Prince Charles is currently summering.
3. Tatler
Perhaps the highest form of culture readily available on a Conservative’s coffee table. With such articles as ‘Everything you need to know about Zac Goldsmith’, ‘David Davis, the Conservative Party’s self-styled secret weapon,’ and ‘What's it like to be... Boris Johnson's hair’, this is the de rigeur publication for the smartest among the membership. Go here for eligible right-wing bachelors, Tory paparazzi snaps, and Boris voyeurism.
4. The Daily Mail
Suitable for sensitive and mature readers only, The Daily Mail will provide the most reliable and factchecked detail of all Tory shenanigans. If you’d like to know the price of Theresa May’s most recent outfit, the current rocky relationship between the Windsors and the Party, or which electoral candidate has the most debauched drug habit, this racy rag may just be the one for you.
5. Blueprint
The list wouldn’t be complete without Oxford University Conservative Association’s own termly publication, containing only the most passionate and highly-researched pieces of political journalism by the Association’s keen body and entirely willing and voluntary MPs. For a student take on politics, and, indeed, anything vaguely Party-related, be sure to check your pidge for the latest issue of Blueprint. With a title like that, one simply cannot go wrong.
